Yogyakarta, May 11, 2026 – PT Paiton Energy (www.paitonenergy.com) invites and motivates the younger generation to make tangible contributions toward a successful energy transition, such as through technological innovation. The Company also encourages the continuous enhancement of collaboration between universities and the industry to strengthen sustainable national energy security.
The encouragement from Paiton Energy was specifically presented by President Director Fazil Erwin Alfitri and Chief Financial Officer Bayu Widyanto across two scientific forums. Fazil Erwin Alfitri served as a speaker at the 2026 National Electrical Power System Competition (NESCO) seminar at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Meanwhile, Bayu Widyanto attended as a speaker in the Industrial Partner Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Yogyakarta.
At the NESCO 2026 Seminar, which carried the theme “Pioneering Green Solutions: Advancing National Transition Through Renewable Energy” on Saturday (9/5), Fazil Erwin Alfitri emphasized the vital role of the younger generation, such as university students, in leveraging technological developments to drive green energy progress in relation to the energy transition and sustainable energy security.
Fazil Erwin Alfitri stated that to achieve sustainable national energy security, the energy transition must be able to maintain a balance between the reliability of the electrical system and the affordability of tariffs for the public.
“The national energy transition requires an integrated approach that is both realistic and reliability based. We see that strengthening the foundation of Indonesia’s electrical system over the next decade highly depends on synergy in aligning policies, investment, and the development of environmentally friendly technologies to achieve long-term energy mix targets,” said Fazil Erwin Alfitri.
Strategic Collaboration
During the FGD with Industrial Partners at Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Yogyakarta, which featured the theme “Building Relevant and Impactful Higher Education” on Thursday (May 7), Bayu Widyanto, as Chief Financial Officer of Paiton Energy, stated that partnerships between universities and the industry represent a strategic collaboration in preparing a highly skilled workforce to anticipate industrial needs that support national development.
According to Bayu Widyanto, the university-industry collaboration model can also generate the technological innovations required to support the development of both parties, both now and in the future.
“The industrial world moves dynamically; therefore, it is essential for universities to keep pace with these dynamics, making continuous mutual feedback a necessity. For us, it is crucial that students—as the future industrial workforce—master the required skills and possess the ability to be agile, flexible, and adaptable to evolving needs and developments. This is where university–industry collaboration becomes vital,” said Bayu Widyanto.
PT Paiton Energy has long developed strategic collaboration programs with the education sector, primarily through the Paiton bErsiNERGY Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. These initiatives include the Waste to Energy Program at the University of Indonesia and the Solar School Program at three high schools: SMAN 70, SMKN 54, and SMKN 53. Additionally, PT Paiton Energy has established a partnership with the Faculty of Forestry at UGM to develop social forestry into productive energy forests to support biomass-based renewable energy.
Through this strategic synergy, coupled with its participation in these two scientific forums, PT Paiton Energy reaffirms its support for the Pentahelix concept, which involves collaboration between the government, academia, and business entities. The Company is committed to continuously supporting the energy transition agenda through reliable power plant management and long-term partnerships with various stakeholders.
PT Paiton Energy is the first and one of the largest Independent Power Producer (IPP) operating in Indonesia. The shareholders of the Company consist of RATCH Group, Nebras Power, and Medco Daya Energi Sentosa (MDES).
