Paiton Energy and POMI Support the Restoration of Clean Water Access for Hundreds of Residents Following Wildfires in the Bromo Area

Probolinggo, October 14, 2026 – As part of efforts to restore basic needs for communities affected by the forest and land fires (Karhutla) in the area surrounding Mount Bromo, PT Paiton Energy (www.paitonenergy.com) and PT Paiton Operation & Maintenance Indonesia (POMI) provided both emergency assistance and long-term infrastructure support to help recover essential services. This integrated disaster response initiative successfully restored access to clean water for approximately 830 residents in Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program focuses on three main areas: emergency clean water distribution, reconstruction of damaged water pipeline networks, and forest disaster mitigation training. The initiative reflects the Company commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles by accelerating sustainable post-disaster recovery.

Head of External Relations of PT Paiton Energy, Bambang Jiwantoro stated that the Company acted swiftly from the emergency response phase through to the recovery stage. “The Bromo wildfires damaged critical infrastructure relied upon by local communities. We are here not only to provide temporary logistical support, but also to deliver long-term solutions by rebuilding water distribution networks, enabling communities to fully resume their daily activities and economic livelihoods,” Bambang said.

During the emergency response phase on August 10, 2026, Paiton Energy – POMI, together with the village government, distributed 6,000 liters of clean water to meet residents’ domestic needs, as well as 60 cartons of bottled drinking water to support volunteers working in the field.

As part of the physical recovery phase on September 2, 2026, the Company handed over 408 meters of clean water pipes at the Jetak Village Office. This infrastructure assistance was intended to reconnect sections of the distribution network that had melted or been severely damaged by the fire, enabling clean water to once again flow to Jetak Village and Ngadas Village.

The handover of the water pipes was witnessed by representatives of the Probolinggo Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Sukapura District Administration. Head of BPBD Probolinggo Regency, R. Oemar Sjarief, ST., MT., expressed appreciation for the support provided by Paiton Energy and POMI in accelerating the restoration of essential services for communities affected by the wildfires.

“We are deeply grateful for the pipeline assistance provided to restore the clean water network. Clean water is essential for the daily needs of residents affected by the wildfires in Jetak and Nogosari Villages, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency. We hope this support will help restore clean water access and ensure residents no longer face difficulties in meeting their water needs,” said Oemar Sjarief.

In addition to physical recovery efforts, the companies also strengthened community safety measures in disaster-prone areas. On September 18, 2026, Paiton Energy and POMI conducted a First Aid Training Program at the RAPTOR Monitoring Post Basecamp. The intensive training equipped 30 representatives from Selobanteng Village forest farmers, the RAPTOR Community, and the Binor Village Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) with practical skills including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), fracture treatment, and snakebite evacuation procedures.

Head of Human Capital, Facility, and Community of PT POMI, Rochman Hidayat emphasized the importance of strengthening local community resilience. “Multi-stakeholder collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, and local communities is the key to effective disaster mitigation. Through this skills-building initiative, we are establishing a rapid response network at the forefront of forest areas to help minimize similar risks in the future,” Rochman said.

To date, coordination regarding the utilization and installation of the pipelines continues in collaboration with BPBD Probolinggo Regency, the Sukapura District Administration, and local village governments. Monitoring is also being conducted to assess installation progress, network functionality, and the recovery of clean water services as part of evaluating the program’s benefits for the community under this disaster response initiative.

In managing its CSR, PT Paiton Energy consistently applies a multi-stakeholder synergy approach, a collaborative effort involving key components: the government, the community, academia, business entities, and the media. These five elements are consistently engaged in every CSR and ESG program conducted by the Company.
