Synergy between PMI and Paiton Energy Builds Disaster-Resilient Communities

Probolinggo, 29 July 2025 – The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and PT Paiton Energy officially launched the Paiton Energy CSR Program today at the Recreation Hall, Paiton, Probolinggo Regency. This event marks a new chapter in the strategic collaboration between the humanitarian sector and the business community to support sustainable development and community resilience in the Probolinggo region, East Java.

This program is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement signed between the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Headquarters and PT Paiton Energy on January 22, 2025. Several representatives from both organizations attended the event, including PMI Secretary General A.M. Fachir, East Java PMI Chairman Imam Utomo, President Director of PT Paiton Energy Fazil Erwin Alfitri, and CFO Bayu A. Widyanto. The Regent of Probolinggo, dr. H. Muhammad Haris, MKes, and Vice Regent Fahmi A.H.Z were also present at the program launch.

This CSR program encompasses a range of initiatives that directly address the needs of the Probolinggo community, focusing on resilience, health, and sustainability, while also contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. The focus areas of this CSR program include:

● Strengthening Disaster Resilience, through the establishment of Community-Based Disaster Preparedness Volunteers (SIBAT) and Safe School and Islamic Boarding School Programs (SPAB)

● Enhancing Community Health, through health promotion campaigns on stunting and local endemic issues, as well as providing cataract surgery for the community

● Nature-Based Disaster Prevention, through the planting of productive vegetation in upstream and coastal areas to support the development of Nature-Based Solutions, while integrating livelihood and ecotourism approaches

● Joint Training and Emergency Response, involving the active participation of Paiton Energy’s rescue team, which is part of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ Emergency Response Group and has experience in disaster response across various regions in Indonesia

Synergy with Regional Development Priorities

All these programs are designed to align and synergize with the development priorities of Probolinggo Regency, making this collaboration a model of partnership between the business sector and humanitarian organizations based on the real needs of the community.

This kind of approach aligns with the development direction of Probolinggo Regency, which encourages the involvement of all parties in addressing disaster, social, and environmental challenges in a sustainable manner.”

The collaboration between PMI and PT Paiton Energy through this CSR program is expected to serve as a best practice of partnership between the private and humanitarian sectors in supporting community resilience, especially in disaster-prone areas such as Probolinggo.
