Probolinggo, August 11, 2022 – As an effort to actively participate in revitalizing the Indonesian economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, PT Paiton Energy and POMI are actively involved in promoting and opening a marketing network for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) products. One of them is at the Car Free Day (CFD) event in Probolinggo Regency, East Java, which has been held three times since the pandemic after two years of absence.
The promotion and marketing of MSME products at the Probolingo CFD event resulted in an economic turnover of around Rp. 150 – 250 million every week because of this event. Of course, this is a very positive thing for the empowerment of MSME actors, especially in terms of product marketing.
In this case, Paiton Energy and POMI see the empowerment of MSME actors as very important because they have a very large contribution to the national economy. Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. The number of MSMEs in the country has reached 64.2 million with a contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 61.07% or Rp. 8.57 trillion.
The efforts of Paiton Energy and POMI to support and assist the promotion and marketing of MSME products in Probolinggo have received a tremendous response from MSME players. At the CFD event with the theme, “Recovering Faster, Rising Stronger”, around 175 MSMEs came from various regions in Probolinggo Regency.
At the CFD event, there are various activities, including MSME titles “Gelar Lapak UKM,” education, and entertainment for visitors. The implementation of CFD is based on the cooperation of many parties, including the local government, the arts community, the radio community, youth organizations, and the MSME community, including the private sector.
The activity was held to also commemorate the 2022 National MSME Day with the theme “Pandemic Challenges and MSME Transformation Strategies in the Future.”
Chief Financial Officer of PT Paiton Energy, Bayu Widyanto said that after two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, now MSMEs in Indonesia, including in Probolinggo, are starting to show their revival. “The MSME sector is the pillar and backbone of the national economy. So, if the MSME sector rises, the Indonesian economy can also rise,” he said.
According to Bayu Widyanto, apart from being an effort to empower MSMEs, the CFD event is also an opportunity for Paiton Energy to campaign and educate the public about green lifestyles to mitigate climate change. So, at the CFD event, the Company also conducted education on energy saving behavior, emission reduction and 3R behavior (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle).
Human Resources Manager of POMI, Rochman Hidayat said at the CFD event the Company also prepared facilities that could be used by MSME actors and visitors. Among other things, educational media in the form of photo booths and conical tents that are used for MSME actors to sell at this event.
“We are very grateful for the reopening of this CFD event, and hope that MSME actors in Probolinggo, especially Kraksaan, can get up soon, and the community’s economy will grow again,” said Rochman.
