PT Paiton Energy Presents Rooftop Solar Power Plant to SMKN 54 Jakarta
Jakarta, May 21, 2024 – In an effort to continue educating the public about renewable energy, PT Paiton Energy (PE) presented Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS) to the State Vocational High School (SMKN) 54 Jakarta. The initiative also supports the Indonesian government's program to reduce carbon emissions from the energy sector.
PE brings ultra-low carbon, environmentally friendly energy in the form of Solar PV (Photovoltaic) to SMKN 54 Jakarta in the form of 20 units of Rooftop Solar PV with a capacity of 10 kWp. The inauguration of SMKN 54's Rooftop PLTS was held on Tuesday (5/21).
The event was attended by the Plt. Head of the Jakarta Special Region Education Office, Budi Awaluddin/Head of the Jakarta Special Region Regional Cooperation Bureau, Marulina Dewi Mutiara, Head of External Relations of PT Paiton Energy, Bambang Jiwantoro, and the Principal of SMKN 54 Jakarta, Hamidah Nasir.
PE built a Rooftop PLTS at SMKN 54 Jakarta as part of the Company's efforts to support the Indonesian government's program to increase the use of renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. It also supports the Jakarta Special Government Program for the Establishment of Net Zero Carbon Schools, which is part of helping Jakarta achieve its goal of becoming a Net Zero Emission City by 2050.
This development program is called Solar School PV. The Rooftop PLTS is capable of providing up to 10 kW of electricity, which can be used for the daily needs of SMKN 54 Jakarta. In addition, the solar school can reduce CO2 emissions by 0.68 tons every month, which is equivalent to planting one tree.
President Director of PT Paiton Energy Fazil Erwin Alfitri said Solar School PV is the Company's social and environmental responsibility (CSR) program as a form of implementation of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) concept. It is also Paiton Energy's contribution to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"The Company believes that education and a healthy environment are important foundations for sustainable development," said Fazil Erwin Alfitri.
According to Head of External Relations of PT Paiton Energy Bambang Jiwantoro, the Rooftop PLTS at SMKN 54 is expected to motivate students and schools to actively participate in efforts to harness new renewable energy (EBT) and environmental sustainability, as well as actively reduce carbon emissions that cause climate change.
"The use of PLTS in schools is a real step towards creating a sustainable future and contributing to climate change mitigation," said Bambang Jiwantoro.
SMKN 54 Jakarta Principal Hamidah Nasir said that she is grateful to PE for their concern and support in providing this Rooftop PLTS for SMKN 54 Jakarta. This contribution is not only a material help, but also a great investment in the future of education and school environment.
"We are committed to maintaining and making the best use of this Rooftop PLTS and hope that it will set a positive example for other schools and the surrounding community," said Hamidah Nasir.
According to SMKN 54 Jakarta Student Affairs Officer and Director of Sinergi (Sanggar Konservasi Energi) Mohamad Wafirul Hadi, "We will use this Rooftop PLTS as a tool to educate our students about the importance of energy conservation and environmental protection.
