Paiton Energy Receives DKJ Awards 2024 for Environmental Category

Jakarta, June 27, 2024 – PT Paiton Energy's (PE) Solar School Program at SMKN 54 Jakarta has won a prestigious award from the Jakarta Provincial Government (DKI) as the winner of the Derap Kerja Sama Jakarta (DKJ) Awards 2024 in the Environment category. This shows that PE's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is beneficial and contributes to development.

The DKJ Awards 2024 are given to companies that implement the program of Social and Environmental Responsibility of Business Entities (TJSLBU) in Jakarta during the period 2022 - 2024. This award is a form of appreciation from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to partners who have contributed significantly to the development and growth of the city of Jakarta.

Awards are given in three main categories: Community Empowerment, Environment (including renewable energy), and Health.

The evaluation of the DKJ Awards 2024 is based on three main indicators, namely the value of sustainability, innovation and creation, as well as program impact and evaluation.

The judges found the Paiton Energy’s Solar School program with SMKN 54 Jakarta to be highly consistent and innovative, and to have a significant impact on improving the quality of life in the community, particularly in terms of renewable energy education and carbon emission reduction.

The Solar School Program at SMKN 54 Jakarta is part of Pentahelix's synergy in supporting sustainable development in Indonesia. Through this program, PE has installed 20 units of Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 10 kWp.

The program aims to educate students about renewable energy and support the government's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve Jakarta's Net Zero Carbon target by 2050. By installing solar PV, the program was able to reduce CO2 emissions by 0.68 tons per month, which is equivalent to planting one tree.

President Director of PT Paiton Energy, Fazil Erwin Alfitri, said the Company is very proud to receive the DKJ Awards 2024 in the Environment category. This award recognizes the Company's efforts to support sustainable development through innovation in renewable energy.

“The Solar School program at SMKN 54 Jakarta is a clear demonstration of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and educating the younger generation about the importance of renewable energy,” said Fazil.

Visit to WTE Program

Continuing the education on the use of renewable energy, 25 students and three accompanying teachers from SMKN 54 Jakarta visited Paiton Energy's Waste to Energy (WTE) CSR program at Ragunan Wildlife Park (TMR).

The students and teachers of SMKN 54 Jakarta saw first-hand the process of turning waste into renewable energy (Waste to Energy - WTE).

The WTE program is PT Paiton Energy's CSR initiative that synergizes with TMR in developing waste management solutions integrated with renewable energy development.

At TMR, the WTE program involves the installation and operation of eight units of biodigesters that convert animal manure and organic waste into biogas. This biogas is then used to power an electricity generating machine known as the Biogas Waste Power Plant (PLTSa).

The visit by students from SMKN 54 Jakarta shows PE's commitment to educating the public, especially the younger generation, about the importance of sorting and processing waste to preserve the environment.
The students of SMKN 54 Jakarta, who are members of the Energy Conversion Studio (SINERGI), enthusiastically participated in this visit. This organization is an extracurricular forum at SMKN 54 Jakarta that aims to educate students in the science of energy conversion. SINERGI becomes a community for students to learn, adapt and create creative products using energy conversion systems.

Corporate Affairs Manager of PT Paiton Energy, Dani Basuki, said that the Company is very pleased to provide the students of SMKN 54 Jakarta with the opportunity to see first-hand the Waste to Energy program at Ragunan Wildlife Park.

"This activity is part of our commitment to support the education and development of renewable energy among the younger generation. We hope that this program will inspire them to continue caring for the environment,” said Dani.

Mohamad Wafirul Hadi, SMKN 54 Jakarta Student Affairs Officer and Director of SINERGI, said, "This visit provides a very valuable learning experience for our students. Through the WTE program, they can see first-hand how biodigester technology works and understand the importance of sustainable waste management. We hope that this experience will inspire the students to continue to innovate in the field of renewable energy.

Muhammad Fiqih, one of the students from SMKN 54 Jakarta, said, "TMR provides an educational experience about the importance of protecting animals and the environment. We learned how to make compost and its benefits. Thank you, PE, and TMR for this opportunity. This activity inspires us to care more about environmental protection.

Paiton Energy will continue to enhance its positive environmental impact through sustainable business practices and continuous environmental performance improvement initiatives. The Company synergizes its climate change management activities through the Paiton bErsiNERGY Program.
Paiton Energy has implemented its CSR program since 2000 which was designed annually and monitored by the Community Development Committee. The programs are categorized into three focuses, namely supporting the sustainability of Companies (power plant), socio-economic sustainability, and energy and environmental sustainability.
