Community Forest Development and Conservation Program in Desa Selobanteng

Since 2009-2010, Paiton Energy – PT POMI has donated 85,000 Gmelina seeds and 105,000 Teakwood seeds to be planted by the people in the forest area community of Desa Selobanteng. Based on the results of monitoring and evaluation, the estimated life percentage for Gmelina is 67% and teakwood is 51%. Routine monitoring is conducted every year while the comprehensive monitoring is conducted every 5 years to see the changes in the environmental conditions. Yearly monitoring and evaluation are in collaboration with the FMIPA University of Malang and farmer groups of Desa Selobanteng. While monitoring and evaluation in every 5 years is in collaboration with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and BKT Kebun Raya Purwodadi. Some of the monitoring consists of:

  • Vegetation analysis of conservation areas
  • Analysis of environmental factors (micro-climate) conservation areas
  • Soil analysis
  • Carbon stock analysis
  • Analysis of satellite imagery (NDVI)
  • Analysis of the land use area of the conservation area
  • Report on the results of land suitability analysis of coffee nursery (Desa Selobanteng)
